Music-A Direct Route To The Heart

I’ve always loved music. There is just something so powerful and magical about the way it all fits together; how all these different sounds can come together and make something so beautiful. Music is a language that most people speak in one-way or another. It brings people together, build friendships, creates a bond. You instantly feel closer or feel you understand someone who listens to the same music as you, because music means something. It may have gotten you through hard times, or been there in the good ones. Reminds you of loved ones, or of people who have impacted your life.

“Music bypasses the brain and goes straight to the heart.”

Music provides a direct route to you heart, which has the opportunity to be an incredibly beautiful experience. Through that we have the opportunity to let God into our heart through music, through playing and singing to him and in his name.

I was at an event one time, and during that event I played some music during the prayer time. I didn't quite get the power that it had to reach hearts, and wasn't quite sure what was going to come from it, but at the end of the day, the participants gave us feedback, and one of the young ladies there wrote about the music during prayer time and how she didn't know that that was a way to pray and was excited to have that opportunity to pray to God in that way and come to him. Music inspired her to open her heart to God and what He has for her, and getting to see that opened my eyes further to what God can do through music.

The church regards music as the highest form of art, and there’s a reason for that. It has to power to win hearts, to draw people into relationship with God, and God takes a lot of joy in it as well, in our choice to give our music to Him, to play and sing for Him. Like a child singing for their parents, our Father in heaven takes joy in us sharing our abilities with Him. Let us bring our gifts to the father, that we may love Him more through that and come to know him more each and every day.
