YOUTH & YOUNG ADULT MINISTRY

MISSION STATEMENT

Youth and Young Adult Ministry of the R.C. Diocese of Mackenzie-Fort Smith serves the social, spiritual, and cultural needs of young persons and their families; through fostering fellowhsip and formation in the Catholic Fatih. Our ministry embraces a variety of spiritual and cultural traditions, primarily of aboriginal peoples, that encourage young persons and their families to express their faith in their own actions and words.

We take inspiration from Pope Francis’ message for the 29th World Youth Day.

MEET THE COORDINATORS

Adele Costanza was born and raised in Ottawa, ON. She served with NET Ministries of Canada for 3 years. She travelled across Canada for two of those years and her third year brought her to Yellowknife. She fell in love with the city, the people and the land. Two years later (Jan 2013) God called her back up North to work as the Youth Coordinator for the Diocese. Adele fell more in love with the land and the people when she travelled to some of the Northern communities in March 2013. It was an experience she will always hold close to her heart. Adele loves the outdoors and continues to discover the beauty of the Northern land and falls more in love with it each day.

Alexandria (Alex) Lepore was born in London, ON, and graduated from King’s University College at Western University with an Honors Specialization in Catholic Studies and a Minor in History (BA, 2012).  Alex soon discovered her call to youth ministry and mission work during her undergraduate studies at King’s.  Alex first experienced the North when she made a 12-day pilgrimage to the Pine Channel Shrine in the Athabasca Region.  Alex came to Yellowknife in May 2013 for four months to assist Adele with Youth Ministry.  Her four month volunteer trip soon turned into a more permanent position as the Associate Coordinator of Youth & Young Adult Minister.
