OFFICE OF YOUTH & YOUNG ADULT MINISTRY

 

The Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministry at the Diocese of Mackenzie-Fort Smith, is pleased to announce for the first time ever a faith rally for youth of the Northwest Territories, called SPIRIT ALIVE.

 

For one day during the summer, this event provides an opportunity for youth to gather to celebrate and to engage in their faith under the guidance of engaging speakers and musical talents from Christian and Aboriginal backgrounds.

 

The SPIRIT ALIVE event is the product of a powerful problem.  After two consecutive summers of youth of the NWT outgrowing the seats of a coach bus to attend the Diocese of Calgary's annual One Rock Christian Music Festival, the decision was made to host a similar event locally.  SPIRIT ALIVE was not created to compete with other faith festivals, but to celebrate the Christian faith in solidarity with as youth from across Western Canada gather at One Rock, and in preparation for the Diocese's annual Deline Spiritual Gathering.

 

Through the delivery of keynote presentations, faith and culture workshops, a variety of prayer experiences, and networking opportunities for youth of the NWT, SPIRIT ALIVE will encourage youth and young adults to engage in their faith both in personal and communal ways.
